At Home With Lisa- Interesting Facts about Living in Maryland

I have lived my whole life in the state of Maryland.  I love it here.  Such diversity.  We have the range from mountains to ocean, so that within a few hours you could be spending time in the gorgeous mountains or playing on the beach at the ocean.  Since it's almost the end of the year I wanted to share some interesting facts about Maryland.

Maryland Famous For:
1.  Birthplace of the National Anthem
2.  Blue Crabs from the Chesapeake Bay
3.  Many thoroughbred Horse Farms

Maryland Nicknames:
1.  The Free State
2.  Old Line State
3.  Chesapeake Bay State

What was invented in Maryland:
1.  First Railroad
2.  First Dental School
3.  First Umbrella Factory
And Maryland Inventors gave us the gas light, the linotype machine, and the refrigerator.

What is the State bug of Maryland
Since 1973 it is the Baltimore Checkerspot Butterfly

Maryland State Mammal
We don't have one, but we do have a state dog, cat and horse.  The dog is the Chesapeake Bay Retriever, the cat is the Calico Cat and the horse is the Thoroughbred.
